UDUPI PARYAYA

Puttige Paryaya Started

Paryaya is a religious ritual which takes place every two years in Sri Krishna Matha (Krishna Temple) of Udupi. The puja and administration of Krishna Matha is distributed among the Swamijis of Ashta Matha's which was established by Dvaita philosopher Sri Madhvacharya. Each swamiji of every matha gets a chance to perform puja to Sri Krishna by rotation.

The swamiji who is in charge of the worship to Sri Krishna and other rituals is known as the Paryay Swamiji. His Mutt is known as the Paryaya Mutt and the duration of the tenure is known as the paryaya period. The ceremony of handing over the charge of Sri Krishna Mutt to the new swamiji is known as the paryaya festival. This year Swamiji of Puttige Mutt is going to ascend the "Sarvajna Peeta" to perform all the rituals and administration of Sri Krishna Temple for next two years starting from January 18th 2024
